About Claire Kitcher
Welcome and thank you for your visit here.
Why do I paint?
Quite simply, since early childhood I have loved capturing the likeness of animals. Horses and ponies being my driving passion. Supported by fantastic parents with encouragement and materials, I would spend hours and hours sketching or painting. One-day it was pointed out to me that I was really capturing their personality and character through their eyes. Through this I fell into a career of pet portraiture which evolved into becoming a full-time professional artist.
My family and I are lucky enough to live in the beautiful New Forest in southern England. I have spent my life riding and walking here, and this is my greatest inspiration. From the wonderful views and wildlife, to a tiny insect, flower or footprint. As a family we have been active commoners on the Forest, breeding the beautiful New Forest ponies and regularly riding and walking out into the Forest to check on them. I am very grateful to have always been supported by my wonderful husband. Together we also run New Forest Equestrian Directory (www.nfed.co.uk), an invaluable source of equestrian information.
We are blessed with a beautiful daughter, a great son-in-law and their amazing, life changing and enriching, twin boys.
We have also been privileged to share our lives with various animals. The riding horses and ponies, our dogs, chickens, ducks, pet rabbits and mice.
I have enjoyed giving art demonstrations for groups, holding art lessons, have been honoured to be asked to judge local exhibitions and have been featured in two television programs!
Along with my original traditional artwork I am also enjoying digital art. This is an ideal medium for my children's book illustration projects as it allows images to be edited as the stories evolve. I am continuing to work in pencil, watercolour, oils and pastels as I always have, but will be using the digital art to add some fun quirky ideas that I hope will make you smile.
My prints are supplied directly by Fine Art America (FAA) who have production facilities in many countries including the UK. A high-resolution scan is taken directly from the original artwork to ensure you receive the best possible quality images. FAA handle all orders, production and order fulfilment directly leaving me far more time to paint.
Most of my originals will be sold locally through exhibitions but if you are really interested in a particular piece, then please feel free to contact me directly.
Well, I really hope you enjoy my artwork.
